Destruction Zone
As I’ve mentioned already, Sean and I are currently updating both our living room and dining room. At the same time. There were 5 layers of wallpaper in the living room alone. Yes, at the same time. Our kids told us the house looked, “disgusting”. I’d have to agree with them. Parts of the wall have 4 layers of paper still, some 3, 2, and so on. It’s dingy looking.
The dining room isn’t quite as bad off as the living room. One wall looks like the living room, but otherwise, plain blue. It’s slightly more liveable than the living room.
We have to prime the dining room walls and ceiling, then we’re going to do a neutral paint. I hope to update the chandeleir too, it’s way outdated.
The living room, sigh. Looks like we’re going to have to steam the remaining layers of wallpaper. If we just prime over it, the paint will bubble. We had planned originally to get any paper we could off, prime, then hang paintable wallpaper over it. Looks like we have to do it properly and not cut corners. The new plan; steam off the wallpaper, prime walls and ceiling, then paint.
Did I mention that both rooms also have sparkly blown-in popcorn ceilings from the 1980′s? Yep, not gonna miss those sparkles!
